About this class

Aachen designer and illustrator Ulrike Lea Moormann is coming to Berlin for a ceramic design course. She is known for her unmistakable designs in print, textile and ceramic, where playful elements meet clear design language.

In the all-day course, Ulrike Lea Moormann gives insights into her work and invites you to create extraordinary works with simple means: surfaces that overlap, structures that develop their own language, forms that surprise when created.

Inspired by the question of how basic visual elements can be transformed into three-dimensional objects, you will work with plate technology under the guidance of Ulrike Lea Moormann: Sound becomes surface, surface becomes form. In the first part of the course, special objects are created — with hands, patience and curiosity for the creation process.

A break together with a carefully prepared lunch table invites you to take a deep breath and exchange ideas before moving on to the color scheme in the second part: The previously shaped pieces are brought to life in various techniques. Design, architecture and visual thinking flow together — so that each resulting piece makes a statement both formally and in terms of content.

In the end, you take a very individual vessel with you — an expression of your personal language of form.

The resulting works are then fired and transparently glazed and are ready for collection approximately 3 weeks after the end of the course. The works can be shipped for an additional charge.
