An oriental evening full of taste, warmth & spices

Welcome to a culinary journey through the Levant — right in the heart of Hamburg. In this vegetarian cooking class, we will take you to the aromatic world of the Eastern Mediterranean region. Together, we cook a colorful, spice-intensive menu with ingredients that warm the soul and senses.

The menu:
pita bread with za'atar — freshly baked & fragrant
🍏 apple and onion salad with sumac & pomegranate seeds
🍠 sweet potato shakshuka with spicy sriracha butter
🍆 eggplant rolls filled & served in curry coconut dal 💗 beetroot
dip with yogurt & za'atar — to fall in love 🌽 baked polenta with feta & spiced tomatoes 🍋 apple poppy and lemon cake


& Tonka saffron ice cream with pine nuts

In general, it was a nice evening - the guests were nice and the food delicious. However, the price-performance ratio was not right for me. There were few explanations from Koch, no joint “learnings.” Each group (2 people) cooked 1-2 recipes for themselves according to foiled instructions. Explanations were only available upon request. The kitchen is also not really suitable for such an event. There is no shared cooking island — but an L-shaped kitchen. Some ingredients were out or not available. Soft drinks: orange juice and water. There were three bottles of wine for 12 people. The ambiance in the dining room is also rather dusty and cool. For 90€, I had more expectations.

First of all, the selection of dishes and ingredients was appropriate to the theme. An introduction to the recipes and cooking stations by the course instructor and her assistant was good in advance. The assistance for preparing and cooking or baking was also good. And in the end, everyone was delighted and satisfied. However, according to the website, three dishes were missing from the menu: Sweet potato shakshuka beetroot dip Baked polenta And the tonka saffron ice cream cherry sorbet was “just” mango ice cream. And if you now put that in relation to the price, I have to subtract two stars again. Too bad. I'm looking forward to your comment. I will be happy to answer any further questions you may have. Claas
