Get to know Theater kuenstlerhaus43 im Palasthotel

Where the cooking fountain is steaming, in the middle of Kranzplatz... the palace hotel has stood since 1905. It was the most modern hotel in Europe at the turn of the century during Kaiser's time. Hot, cold, thermal water & telephone in every room. It can tell an eventful history of its use: From a luxury hotel, hospital, billiard parlour, shooting club to kindergarten, cosmetic studio & vacancy.

Since 2020, the palace hotel's historic breakfast rooms have been used for cultural purposes. The well-known Künstlerhaus43 from Obere Webergasse revives the spectacular rooms with its unusual theatre (cultural) projects. The game is played in the breakfast rooms under a historic glass dome. Classicism meets Art Nouveau on exposed walls. Traverses with spotlights provide a view of a Mediterranean courtyard.

It starts right at the west entrance on the evergreen artificial turf. The audience is greeted in person and enters a colorful dream factory: dinner theatre, poetry slam, reading brunch, children's plays, exciting guest performances, music events and much more... right in the middle of it all... there is no separation of stage and auditorium. Theatre is what takes place all around.

Successful dinner theatre productions such as “Leichenschmaus & Schwarze Katzen”, “Der kleine Prinz & die 7 Todsünden” and “Der Spätlesereiter” have been delighting their audiences for years in an unusual setting, with tempting menus and living regionality. There you can bite into Coq au vin in addition to Napoleon. With goose wine, listen to the sounds of the accordion and let your mind wander with sparkling wine.

Every year, organizers Susanne Müller & Wolfgang Vielsack host the Wiesbaden Summer Festival at Sonnenberg Castle. But there are also unusual performance venues such as Hofgut Adamstal, the Orangery or the apple orchard across the street from you.

In addition to the extensive theatre productions, workshops and seminars also take place in the rooms. A modern air filter system and large window fronts provide fresh air and creative lighting. Improv theatre with music and/or red nose is twice as much fun for clown doctors. The rooms can also be booked for company anniversaries, birthday parties or wedding parties.

Celebrities such as Thomas Gottschalk or “The Public Prosecutor” also honored the TiP (Theater im Palast) with their presence. Even Pavarotti is said to have sung from one of the balconies. But as the well-known names whizz by, one thing is certain: The green carpet is a red carpet and it is laid: for the audience.

It is not yet clear when Künstlerhaus43 will resume playing in Obere Webergasse. But one thing is certain, when the time comes, you'll find out here! Until then, visit us at the Theater im Palast.
