About this class
In this course, we cover the production of printmaking sheets from design to cutting the printing plate to printing with various materials (linoleum, wood, material printing, possibly etching (drypoint, acrylic).
Art historical considerations of printed works by various artists and artist groups, such as “Brücke” and “Der Blaue Reiter”, are incorporated into the lessons.
You implement your own designs and learn the work process from start to finish.
The cutting tools to be purchased are not included in the course and must be purchased by yourself (Kaspar Harnisch or Bösner). A list of materials will be submitted before the course starts.
Printing plates and papers are provided by the course instructor and can be obtained from him against material contributions.
Dates: WED, 1.10.25/08.10.25/15.10.25/29.10.25 from 18:30-20:30
The course is basically designed to be structured. However, it is possible to start while the course is ongoing.
What you’ll do in the class
Prof. Erich Laufer shows you how to draw and cut your own printing plates. Printing is then carried out using a printing press and various types of paper.
