My way to HillereiMosaik...
In the summer of 2009 in Barcelona, right in Antonio Gaudi's Parc Güell, there was one of those special moments where you know they were meaningful. I was standing in a “sea of colors.” Everywhere I looked, the craziest shapes decorated with various pieces of ceramic, porcelain... I felt such a strong sense of happiness in this environment. I wanted to know more, see more, do more, feel more... This mix of colors, patterns, shapes, the incredible variety of materials, the long history of mosaic of around 5000 years continues to inspire me. I learned and learn autodidactically, by doing, trying things out, doing intensive research.
My TYPE of mosaic has changed over the years, not least through contact and intensive workshops with various mosaic artists. The art of free play, using a wide variety of materials and techniques, taking into account the possibilities of craftsmanship, offers me almost limitless space for development as an artist, craftsman and teacher.
Creating a mosaic means a lot to me...
Cutting gives mindfulness and concentration, letting go
Placing the stones calmly, structures
Playing with colors shows or changes the mood
The material sets the limits
Grouting is harmonizing
Fulfilled the resulting
The result is a work that often amazes me, which was created in my head, deep from my heart and through my hands.
