What do you call a cocktail without alcohol?
Non-alcoholic cocktails are often called mocktails. Sounds fun, but it's actually not the most flattering term. "To mock" means to make fun of something. And dismissing these alcohol-free cocktails as some kind of joke version of real cocktails simply doesn't do them justice.
Because they deserve just as much love, care, and creativity. They're more than just a few juices with syrup in a glass, so much more.
Just call them what they are: non-alcoholic cocktails, zero-proof drinks, or alcohol-free mixed drinks. That takes nothing away from them, quite the opposite, it shows just how much they're capable of.
Which alcohol-free aperitif is the best?
Martini Vibrante and Floreale, these two non-alcoholic Martini varieties are genuine insider tips. Why? Because their flavor profile is simply convincing. They bring an exciting combination of bitter and floral notes, and those are exactly what make them the perfect base for truly great non-alcoholic cocktails.
Whether paired with fruit syrup, tonic, lemonade, or a fine cordial, Martini Vibrante and Floreale take alcohol-free drinks to a whole new level. No watery juice mix, a real aperitif with character.
The top 10 non-alcoholic cocktails
From fruity to sparkling to savory, here are our ten favorite non-alcoholic cocktails, complete with easy mocktail recipes that are simply fun to make. All recipes are super easy to recreate and prove: alcohol-free cocktails can be just as sophisticated, refreshing, and special as their spirited counterparts. Happy mixing!
1. Non-alcoholic cocktail: Virgin Colada

Ingredients:
- 60 ml coconut milk or Coco Lopez
- 20 ml almond syrup
- 10 ml lemon juice
- 60 ml pineapple juice, freshly pressed is best
- Crushed ice
Method:
- Add all ingredients to a blender together with crushed ice and blitz until you get a creamy, ice-cold smoothie texture.
- Pour into a tall, eye-catching glass, and go all out with the garnish, the more colorful, the better.
This is of course the slightly more innocent version of the classic holiday drink we all know so well from every tropical trip. The easiest way to make it: simply throw everything into the blender with crushed ice and blend until you have a wonderfully creamy smoothie. We leave out the cream here to keep the drink light, but if you'd like to add it, go right ahead.
2. Alcohol-free drink: Gin Basil Smash

Ingredients:
- 60 ml basil mix
- Top with soda
- Garnish with basil leaves and lemon zest
- Served in a highball glass
Method:
- For the basil mix: add 200 ml lemon juice, 150 ml simple syrup, and a generous handful of fresh basil leaves to a blender, then blitz at full power!
- Strain through a fine sieve to remove any solids, then store in the fridge, ideally away from light to prevent oxidation.
Essentially, this is a basil lemonade. Depending on your taste, you can top it with sparkling soda or, if you prefer something more bitter, with tonic.
3. Non-alcoholic cocktail: Red Ribbon Army
Ingredients:
- 60 ml Tanqueray alcohol free
- 30 ml pink mix
- 10 ml simple syrup
Method:
- For the pink mix: add some lemon juice, seedless watermelon, and red currants to a blender. Blend well and strain finely to remove solids.
- Add all ingredients with ice to a shaker, shake vigorously, and double-strain into a coupette.
- Optionally garnish with a small piece of watermelon or a sprig of red currants.
This drink is the epitome of summer. Watermelon always works when the heat kicks in. Combined with the slightly bitter, spicy tartness of red currants, it becomes a surprisingly exciting take on a classic gin sour, just completely alcohol-free.
4. Alcohol-free drink: Nothing Mule

Ingredients:
- 15 ml lime juice
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Top with your ginger beer of choice
- Served in a highball glass
- Garnish with cucumber
Method:
- Add lime juice and Angostura to a highball glass with ice.
- Top with ginger beer.
- Decorate with a cucumber slice, and your refreshment is ready.
Quick tip: Angostura does contain alcohol, but in this tiny dose the drink stays below 0.5% ABV, just like a non-alcoholic beer. Only much tastier. An effortless summer hit with a touch of sophistication.
5. Non-alcoholic cocktail: Paulchen Panther
Ingredients:
- 70 ml Martini Vibrante
- 25 ml blood orange juice
- 5 dashes grapefruit bitters
- 5 dashes Peychaud's bitters
- Grapefruit peel as garnish
- Served in a coupe glass
Method:
Shake all ingredients over ice, strain into a coupette, and finish with a grapefruit peel.
Yes, we're bending the rules ever so slightly again, the bitters do contain alcohol. But don't worry: the drink stays below 0.5% ABV and is therefore officially alcohol-free. Flavor-wise, though, it's anything but restrained. The natural bitterness of blood orange harmonizes perfectly with the red Martini Vibrante. The bitters draw out the best of the floral and citrus notes for a drink that doesn't just shine visually but truly delivers.

6. Alcohol-free drink: Summer Rose
Ingredients:
- 50 ml Martini Vibrante or Floreale
- Top with Fentimans Rose Lemonade
- Half a grapefruit slice as garnish
- Served in a highball glass
Method:
- Add Martini to a highball glass with ice.
- Top with rose lemonade and garnish with half a grapefruit slice.
- Sit back and enjoy.
Tip: Prefer something more bitter? No problem, simply swap the rose lemonade for tonic. Works beautifully either way. A drink that's not only mixed in seconds but also tastes so good you'll almost forget how easy it was.
7. Non-alcoholic cocktail: Chaos Theory
Ingredients:
- 50 ml elderflower juice
- 20 ml lemon juice
- 20 ml blue syrup (see below)
- Top with soda
- Served in a highball glass
Method:
- Add elderflower juice and lemon juice to a highball glass with ice.
- Top with soda.
- Finally, carefully pour in the blue syrup, this creates a beautiful color gradient. Magic in liquid form.
For the blue syrup: Leave water to steep overnight with butterfly pea tea, then filter through a fine sieve. Mix the blue water with white sugar in a 1:1 ratio and stir gently until fully dissolved.
The name says it all, this drink plays with color, flavor, and imagination. Chaos? Maybe. But a rather beautiful one.
8. Alcohol-free drink: Lavender Cucumber Limo

Ingredients:
- 40 ml lavender syrup
- 40 ml fresh cucumber juice
- 40 ml lime juice
- Top with soda
- Served in a lemonade glass
Method:
- Add all ingredients to a glass with ice.
- Top with soda and stir briefly.
- Garnish with lavender or cucumber slices if desired.
This lemonade is like a walk through the garden, fresh, cucumber-y, and floral. Lime and cucumber complement each other surprisingly well, while lavender rounds everything off elegantly. A summery refreshment that doesn't just look special but tastes it too.
9. Non-alcoholic cocktail: Pink Penny
Ingredients:
- 60 ml Martini Vibrante
- 30 ml lemon juice
- 20 ml simple syrup
- 1 tablespoon lemon curd
- Served in a Nick & Nora glass
Method:
- Shake all ingredients vigorously with ice.
- Strain into a Nick & Nora glass.
- Optionally garnish with a little lemon zest or edible flowers.
Here the lemon curd takes center stage, it makes the drink creamy, almost like a lemon cheesecake. The delicate bitter note from the Martini, combined with the fresh acidity of lemon and the buttery sweetness of the curd, creates a harmonious, pastel-pink flavor experience. Honestly, this is cake you can drink.
10. Alcohol-free drink: Virgin Mary

Ingredients:
- 20 ml lemon juice
- 5 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 5 dashes Tabasco
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of pepper
- 1 bar spoon of pickle or silverskin onion brine
- 5 ml beetroot juice (for a deep, rich color)
- Top with tomato juice
- Served over ice in a tumbler or highball glass
- Garnish: celery stalk, fresh pepper, optional lava salt
Method:
- Add all ingredients to a glass over ice and stir well.
- Garnish with a celery stalk and a little fresh pepper on top.
- For the dramatic touch, sprinkle some black lava salt on top.
This Virgin Mary is the polar opposite of the sweet virgin colada. Here it's all about umami, spice, and depth. The beetroot brings not only color but also an earthy note, while the brine from the pickled onions adds a surprisingly sweet-sour twist. A savory starter, or the ultimate hangover cure.
