About this Tour

The former anti-aircraft bunker at Heiligengeistfeld on St. Pauli is one of the largest high-rise bunkers in the world. Climb it via the mountain trail, encounter his gloomy past and experience how he comes alive as a green bunker.

The large grey anti-aircraft bunker was built during the Second World War to protect the population and spent many decades as an emergency shelter, material warehouse, vaccination station and, of course, shelter during the Cold War. After reunification, the concrete giant was revived. Today, you can not only climb there, but also party, enjoy concerts and readings, eat delicious food and even stay in a hotel. Well over 4,000 trees and large shrubs grow into a forest there and show how our cities can make themselves fit for the future.

Our well-trained and cheerful tour guides will take you on an exciting journey through time, from the construction of the bunker to the present day. They entertain you with anecdotes from the television studio “Heiligengeistfeld”, explain the sustainable concept of greening and how the bunker began its third life a few years ago.

From the roof garden, you have a 360-degree panoramic view of many sights in Hamburg, including the Millerntor Stadium, the Dancing Towers, the Elbphilharmonie, the Köhlbrand Bridge, the Container Port, the Bismarck Memorial and the TV Tower. From there, choose your next destination in Hamburg!
