About this Tour
Guided hike on the wine adventure trail with 6 wine tasting stops: characterful Rieslings, wine stories, views of the Rhine including a small regional snack.
Steps of the tour
On the DWI wine hiking weekend 2026, the Wein vom Roter Hang association invites you on a special discovery tour along our wine adventure trail. Accompanied by a winemaker, you will hike through the spectacular landscape of the Red Slope and learn first-hand what makes our sites so unique.
At six of a total of twelve selected stations, you can taste the wines exactly where they grow — with a view of the Rhine and the red rocks that have made this vineyard famous. You will also enjoy a small, regional snack.
The guided hike starts at the Alter Saumarkt in Nierstein, the first point of the wine adventure trail. From there, the route takes around 8 kilometers through the vineyards and takes around 3 hours, depending on breaks and chats with the winemaker.
Tip for hiking enthusiasts:
Comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and some time to relax make this tour a real experience. And if you haven't had enough after the last stop, you can end the day comfortably in one of the Nierstein wine taverns or restaurants.
An experience that combines wine, landscape and encounter — very close to the origin of taste!
Who should take part in this tour?
- For everyone who loves Rheinhessen and the Roter Hang as much as we do.
- If you are not averse to a good sip of wine from Nierstein and want to enjoy a hearty little snack, this is the place for you.
- For everyone who loves enjoyment and a round in the fresh air, with fantastic views.
- You should be good on foot - alpine experience is not necessary :-) - but good, comfortable running shoes should be there.
