Wine from Roter Hang e.V.

Wein vom Roten Hang e.V. is the association of 27 winegrowing families from Nierstein and Schwabsburg, who produce their wines on the legendary steep slopes directly above the Rhine. The heart is the Red Slope — a narrow strip of red weathered sandstone along the river, which has existed for over 280 million years and is now considered one of the most important terroirs for characterful Rieslings.

The members of the association share a common origin and the passion to bottle this cultural asset with lots of handwork, respect for nature and individual handwriting. Each family of winemakers interprets the Red Hang in their own way — this creates a great variety of styles, which always bears the unique mineral signature of the Pettenthal, Hipping, Ölberg, Orbel, Schwabsburg Castle, Rehbach and Nackenheimer Rothenberg vineyards.

In addition to the wine itself, the association creates special wine experiences between sky and Rhine: for example, the annual wine presentation directly in the vineyards or guided tours and events where guests can intensively get to know the landscape, people and wines of the Red Hang. Wine from Roter Hang e.V. therefore stands for authentic origin, lived winemaking tradition and unforgettable moments of pleasure in one of the most impressive wine landscapes in Rheinhessen.
