What Is Coffee Painting?
In our coffee painting classes, you're not simply painting with coffee. You work with three specially developed textures that create very different effects. One of them has incredibly intense opacity. Once dry, it looks almost like a glossy lacquer. It creates bold accents and adds depth to your piece. The other two textures create softer transitions and vivid color gradients. This is how just one natural material produces such incredibly versatile results in coffee art.

What Makes Coffee Painting Special:
We work exclusively with natural substances. There are no chemical paints or additives involved. Coffee naturally brings warm, harmonious tones. These layer and dilute beautifully, letting you create everything from delicate, transparent areas to bold, rich accents. You hold the brush and set the direction, while the coffee is allowed to develop its own dynamic. That exact interplay is what makes every piece one of a kind.

What Surprises Many Participants:
How meditative it feels to completely sink into the process. The scent of coffee, the calm brushstrokes, and the gentle color gradients create a sense of relaxation. You focus entirely on the moment. Your mind quiets down, and your focus sharpens. Before you know it, you're simply in a creative flow.
And the Best Part:
Every age reaches that state, children, adults, and seniors alike. It's not uncommon for parents in our kids' classes to tell us they've never seen their child sit still and focused for two hours like this before.
What Materials Do I Need for Coffee Painting?
You don't need a lot of equipment for coffee painting. A few carefully chosen, quality materials are enough to bring out the best in the color gradients and textures.

If you want to paint a picture with coffee, here's what you'll need:
- High-quality watercolor paper: we work on this special paper since it's designed for water-based painting techniques. It absorbs liquid well without warping too much, and it also allows for smooth transitions. Depending on the format, we use either postcards or larger full-page sheets full-page sheets to create a beautiful coffee painting.
- Quality brushes: good brushes matter a lot. They help you apply the different coffee textures cleanly and create harmonious color gradients, letting you control the balance between bold and soft transitions with precision.
- Prepared coffee textures: the star ingredient is our specially formulated coffee-based textures. Many people initially think of painting with coffee grounds, but we actually use finely tuned liquids that create the different depths and gradients within the piece.
How Do You Paint Properly with Coffee, and What Techniques Exist?
There are several creative approaches when it comes to painting with coffee. This makes it easy to create beautiful coffee paintings yourself:
We work with optional tools like stencils, stamping techniques, and projectors. That said, the real focus is always on the actual coffee painting process using the coffee textures themselves.

To make sure this really works well, an experienced instructor guides you through our workshops. You'll get valuable, step-by-step support throughout the process. This creates a perfect balance between free-flowing painting and supportive technique. It gives you both direction and plenty of room for creativity.
