About this class

In this creative pottery course near Lüneburg, you will learn how to use assembly and turntable technology to create unique works of clay.

Using plate technology, we form vessels and works of art, which we then refine on the turntable. Finally, we add color to them using engobes or special kiln surface techniques such as sgraffito and glaze paints. I then burn and glaze your work so that your dishwasher-safe masterpieces shine at the end.

What you’ll do in the class

This combined course consists of two course units

1. Making pottery on the turntable and setting it up approx. 2.5 hours

We'll start with an introduction to the basics of pottery. Plate technology is a particular highlight. We use it to make wonderful cups, plates, vases, bowls, bird baths, garden works of art and much more. To make the work look professional, we refine it on the turntable. In addition, I will introduce you to various modelling techniques with which you can make your work an imaginative but also functional unique piece

Break: During the one-hour break, you have the opportunity to explore the beautiful countryside or have a snack at the unique gastronomy not far from here.

I provide drinks such as tea and coffee.

2. After painting your work, approx. 2.5 hours

Here you can refine your work even more. You can then decorate your vessels with a variety of engobes, ceramic paints or natural clay paints. I am happy to give you lots of tips and tricks and explain to you extensively how to use clay colors and various glazes. At the end of the course, you can choose two works.

What's next?

I will first burn your work at 900 °C,

I then glaze it with a clear glaze and burn it a second time at 1200 °C.

As soon as everything is ready (approx. 3 - 5 weeks), I will inform you immediately. You can then pick up your work from me.
