What to expect at the “Socks knitting in Leipzig” workshop
Handknitted socks, but you don't really know how and whether you can work with a needle game (5 needles)?
In this knitting workshop in Leipzig, you will learn how to make hand-knitted socks yourself - cuddly and warm as from your grandma or simply how you would like to knit.
You haven't knitted socks yet, but you have basic skills such as right and left stitches — then the course is right for you.
Together on a total of three dates, we pick up the stitches for your personal sock project with a knitting game (5 needles), knit the shaft, then the heels, the gusset and then the tip at the end. Then hold your first pair of socks in your hand - for yourself or as a gift.
On each of the evenings, you progress one section.
What you’ll do in the class
The workshop consists of three meetings.
At the first meeting (1.5 hours), we get to know each other, you choose your wool (8-fold sock wool) and get your needle game. Then we will learn together how to use the needle game (5 individual knitting needles). Then it's time to knit the cuff/shaft. You continue knitting at home until the shaft is finished and the heel (cap heel) is ready.
We will set the date for the second workshop together as a group. The heel will be shown to you during the second appointment (2.0 hours). Here, too, you continue knitting at home until just before the tip.
The third date is also set within the group.
During the third appointment (1.5 hours), you will learn how to knit the lace and how to sew everything together at the end.
In the course, you will receive further reading tips and instructions for your future sock projects. If you are on the verge of despair, you can also get in touch at any time in between.
Who is the class suitable for?
This course is suitable for people who can already make right and left stitches and now want to tackle the next challenge and want more.
