About this class
Roasting coffee — a cool craft. In our workshop, a household pot is enough for this. In keeping with East African tradition. With Angelo, you get professional guidance on how to apply the right tips and tricks.
Be inspired by your own coffee roasting skills. From now on, you can roast your own coffee. It couldn't be fresher, right?
Light Roast or Dark Roast, you decide from now on what goes into your coffee mug!
Let the scent of freshly roasted coffee beans waft everywhere now, because at the end of the workshop, you'll take your home-roasted coffee home nicely packaged.
What you’ll do in the class
We roast two types of East African coffee. First a Kenyan variety and then an Ethiopian variety. (The idea: multiplicative findings arise from a comparison)
We then grind the coffee beans and try them together. Everything on a large wooden table (blackboard).
While roasting coffee, we check the temperature with a handheld meter.
During roasting, you will receive a lot of information about coffee and coffee roasting in general. From history and cultivation to trade, bean quality, etc., accompanied by personal anecdotes from Kenya, the country where I come from on my mother's side and where I started to plant a few coffee trees myself.
- At the beginning, you will receive green coffee beans, a spoon and a pot for roasting coffee
- You get your own seat at a big table
- A stovetop and a casserole are already ready for you to roast coffee, as well as a wooden spoon
- In the pot, we now roast delicious, aromatic coffee together and yet each one at our own stove
- To do this, we put the green coffee beans in the roasting pot and use the wooden spoon to control the coffee
- The coffee will crack and smell wonderful
- The freshly roasted coffee beans need to cool down briefly. That happens in an extra bowl
- We start by roasting the second type of coffee
- After completing both roasts, we grind the coffee in an electric mill
- At the end of the coffee seminar, you can roast coffee yourself
- Of course, we also try the freshly roasted coffee
Who is the class suitable for?
The workshop is suitable for all coffee lovers who want to learn how to roast coffee themselves. You don't need any experience for that. Here you will learn step by step what is important when roasting coffee.

Ten Farmers and Bananas
Our goal is to make the world a bit fairer, which is why we have developed a holistic concept that we would like to convey with our brand TenFarmersAndBnanas.
Super friendly host, very relaxed atmosphere. At the same time, we learned a lot about coffee and its origin and, of course, especially how to roast it properly by hand. Angelo really puts his heart into it. Thank you for a lovely...
