Freiburg's mysterious puzzle tour — Stadtrallye

Freiburg Cathedral only has one tower — and hardly anyone really knows why. The official story is well known. Not the other one. A talented builder named Laurentius once worked on the plans for the second tower — and disappeared without a trace before he could complete them. Strange markings remained on portals, facades and stones, which no one has fully interpreted to this day. Stonemason's sign, some said. The others weren't so sure.

You were hired by a descendant of the builder. Your task: find the hidden designs before they're lost forever — and uncover what really happened back then. The route takes you from Münster along historic buildings, alleys and along Bächle through the old town — to places where the signs are still stuck in the stone if you know where to look. At each station, there is a puzzle that can only be solved on site: read clues, recognize connections, work out the next step together.

We developed this tour ourselves: We traveled the route, chose the locations, wrote the story and designed the puzzles directly on site — tailored to what you really see, find and experience there. No AI, no generic template. Each of our tours is created this way, and it shows.

In between, you'll learn things about Freiburg that no travel guide tells — about the Gothic architecture of Münster, the history of Bächle and stories that make the city look at the city with completely different eyes. The puzzles vary in difficulty: tricky enough for escape room fans, accessible enough for anyone who would otherwise never touch a puzzle. Logic, intuition, powers of observation — every person has something that can be decisive.

You can play the tour solo, as a couple, as a small group or in competition mode against each other. The start is right at Freiburg Cathedral, easily accessible by bus and train. The route ends at a central square — with refreshments nearby if you want to continue the evening.

Note: The builder or builders of Freiburg Minster are still unknown today. The story of Laurentius is fictitious — but the places and the city aren't.
