About this experience

Following the death of a Hamburg industrialist, a puzzling advertisement appears in the Morning Post: The entire inheritance should not belong to the family — but to those who pass his last tests. What follows is a journey through almost a century of Hamburg's city history. Your team follows in the footsteps of a mysterious man whose life is closely interwoven with the history of the city: war and reconstruction, technical milestones, social upheavals and the transformation into a modern metropolis.

The route leads from Jungfernstieg — site of Germany's first asphalted road and the first underwater subway stop — through World War II memorials, the town hall square of the post-war years and the decades of economic upswing to the modern HafenCity with the Elbphilharmonie as a conclusion. The puzzles are directly linked to the locations: Sometimes you need unusual perspectives, sometimes hidden details, sometimes information that only the city itself reveals. Various strengths are required — logic, observational skills, team communication and an eye for what most people overlook.

For corporate teams, the experience goes even further. Individual company questions can be seamlessly integrated into the mission — whether onboarding knowledge, product details or company history. Corporate branding is available upon request. A competition mode with live tracking shows all groups in real time where the others are — with an award ceremony at the finish line. This is how a good event becomes a real team event.

Unboxed Tactics has been actively developing and testing its rallies in the city for over six years — not at a desk, but with real groups on real routes. Each task was checked for effect, and each route was revised several times. The result is not a generic program, but an experience that actually triggers something: shared moments that people talk about weeks later.

The starting point is Jungfernstieg, easily accessible by subway and S-Bahn. The mission ends at the Elbphilharmonie — one of the most impressive places in the city, ideal for a joint finale in one of the surrounding bars.

How does this experience take place?

After booking, you will receive your login details and all information for the game day within 24 hours — no extra download, no technical preparation required. At the Jungfernstieg meeting point, you split into small groups, open the web app on your smartphone and start the mission.

Each group runs their own route, solves tasks at their own pace and collects points. In the optional competition mode, each team sees live where the other groups are currently standing — this creates excitement right up to the last stop. The rally usually takes 2.5 to 3 hours — it is Hamburg's longest route in the program.

All teams meet at the destination, the Elbphilharmonie. The app shows the overall result, and an award ceremony rounds off the event. The restaurants around HafenCity are recommended for the conclusion — gladly upon request with specific recommendations.

In case of bad weather, the appointment can be rescheduled free of charge — uncomplicated, at no additional cost.

Who is it suitable for

Suitable for corporate teams of 4 to 100 people — whether small project team, large department or mixed onboarding group. The format is suitable for team building events, company outings, department days and any situation in which a team should spend more than just time together.

The tasks address various strengths: logic, creativity, powers of observation, historical instinct and team communication. No one needs any previous knowledge — and anyone who thinks they know Hamburg well will still be surprised. The rally leads to places and details that even locals overlook.

No previous experience with escape games required. The format works for all age groups and is much more accessible than classic sports or outdoor events.
