About me: Feel and hear the colors
No matter what I paint, whether portrait, landscape or abstract: As soon as I enter my studio, put on my work clothes and shoes, my transformation takes place. I breathe through and I'm more with myself with every move.
It is best if I feel the brush on the surface and it talks to the primer: Which color wants to go where? Which contrast needs to be reinforced? Which color sound makes me vibrate?
So I'm looking for the color behind the color.
That's why I create color passes for each picture beforehand, with which I compose color sounds. And yet everything remains a coincidence.
I like working with haptic surfaces, be it crinkled washi, plaster, etc., on which the brush can dance.
Good color contrasts worked out make my heart open and make me happy. Sometimes I feel like a sculptor who uses colors to make an image appear layer by layer.
I would like to pass on this joy to my audience.
During my training as a muralist, I got to know Pompeian paintings and Fresco SECCO painting. I was so fascinated by them that I traveled to these places on June 22 to get to know the originals. I also delved into relevant literature. In the process, my respect and amazement grew for the artists of the time, who painted so finely and aesthetically over 2000 years ago!
Unfortunately, many images are faded, destroyed and only incomplete. But reconstructions show how colorful they once were.
Now my head is full of motivational ideas and the urge to apply them colorfully to plaster. In doing so, I also deal with old techniques and try them out, such as stub painting.
I was already influenced by Pompeii without even knowing it. Because Potsdam, my current home, is home to a lot of Pompeii.
My workplace
My island is Atelier 108, where painting is fun! in the Kunst- und Kreativhaus data center. This is a special place because over the last ten years, the house has developed into the creative heart of Potsdam. I'm happy to be able to work in this community. Since my studio is small, the courses I offer there are also very individual, as participants are limited. If I work with a larger group (from five to 12), the data center also offers me larger rooms. We work on tables, such as in “Abstract - very concrete”, or even on easels, such as in “Painting with Muse,” and sometimes only on fixed surfaces, such as “nude drawing.” There are also offers where we work directly on the wall, such as “wall and illusion painting.”
My courses can be attended by amateurs, as I am said to explain well and paint step by step. Professionals are looking for new methods or simply a training ground from me.
Painting a picture together is a special highlight, which I like to offer for families and teams.
