Australien Wein book classes

We are a travel-loving couple of architects and therefore travel a lot. For 2 decades, we have been visiting and exploring the continent of Australia, which has not let go of us since the first visit. During the various stays there, we not only got to know Australia's unique landscape, flora, fauna and culture, but also discovered the exciting history of winegrowing in this wild land.

We were particularly impressed by the so-called “Old Vines” — gnarled, ancient (up to over 150 years old) vines. These grapevines were brought to Australia by the first European — particularly German — emigrants and have survived to this day. While phylloxera raged in Europe and there have been almost no original European vines since then, they have survived in Australia and therefore also represent a piece of European heritage in “Down Under”. Over a glass of Sparkling Shiraz — another exclusive Australian wine specialty — we decided in 2015 to import such treasures to Germany because they were not available anywhere here.
