Back in 2022, December already accounted for the highest share of cooking class bookings at 39.7 percent of the total**. It stands to reason that cooking classes are a popular Christmas gift — especially among couples.
"Our data clearly shows that demand for cooking classes rises in the winter months. We're also seeing rising demand year over year — cooking classes are growing significantly more popular each year. While we haven't yet returned to the pre-pandemic demand peak, we expect popularity to hit a record high in 2024," says Wolfgang Mauer, founder and CEO of konfetti. Compared to 2022, the popularity of cooking classes has risen by a full 10 percent. Before the pandemic, however, demand was still about nine percent higher than in 2023***.

Zero-waste cooking will be another major food trend in 2024. Around 11 million tons of food are still thrown away in Germany alone every year****. The zero-waste movement aims to avoid waste while cooking — many food items, such as seeds or peels, are repurposed instead of discarded.

The criteria listed were weighted, and cooking schools were scored based on these data points, resulting in an overall score for each qualifying school. Schools were then ranked in the list according to this score. ** konfetti analyzed the number of successfully completed bookings on its own platform between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
