Bijoux Mankele: Congolese Cooking School in Berlin
Book classes and events from Bijoux Mankele
Great evening There were three of us at this super great cooking class. We cooked nicely and then we all ate together. Bijou is a great woman who conveys her tradition very vividly.

Bijoux went to great lengths and it was delicious! I was able to forget everyday life and I hope to cook a lot

I gave this cooking class to my best friend for his birthday to show him a part of my world: I'm half Congolese. Yet this course has allowed me to rediscover the kitchen. I also don't remember eating better West African cuisine in...

My name is Bijoux
I was born in Angola and lived in Congo for 11 years. After growing up in Cologne, I now breathe the Berlin air.
A cook? No, I learned to cook from the best grandma in the world: My grandma. When I wasn't under our mango tree in the garden, I was standing in the kitchen with Grandma. Before she could safely hand over a knife to me, I watched her with joy. When it was finally ready, everything in my childhood was just about cooking. So much that we had a basic rule: Bijoux only cooks on weekends, otherwise she'll never make friends! My wonderful grandma (inside and out) taught me that African cuisine can do more than “just” fufu or couscous. I want to spread this message to the world!
