About this experience
Have you ever tasted the forest? Session I of the five-part sensory series “Shinrin Yoku for all senses” is dedicated to the sense of taste.
Over 1,400 species of wild plants grow in Berlin's forests — and an astonishing number of them are edible. This session invites you to discover them, collect them and finally enjoy a dinner made from forest ingredients together.
Together with artist and researcher Marisa Benjamim, we combine the practice of Japanese forest bathing with edible forest plants: We discover what the forest gives us to taste at the beginning of May — tree scents on our tongue, a leaf between our lips, the first tender shoots of spring.
Three sensual moments divide the session, embedded in guided forest bathing: silent walking through clearings, breathing exercises, meditation and conscious pause. In between, we collect edible plants, taste, smell and be amazed. The end is a joint dinner in the middle of nature: fresh pasta with pesto from what the forest has to offer. A moment when the forest goes from experience to taste.
At the beginning of May, the Grunewald is just waking up: The first green glows on the ground, sharbockwort and garlic rocket line the paths, the air smells of moist soil. This intermediate moment between winter and summer belongs to us.
You don't need any previous knowledge — just a willingness to slow down. In the end, in addition to the experience, you also take a small gift from the forest to take home.
What to expect:
- 4 hours experience, including 2.5 hours guided forest bathing (Shinrin Yoku) in Grunewald
- Mindful discovery and collection of edible forest plants
- Three sensual moments between forest bathing and taste
- A joint final dinner: pesto on fresh pasta
- A small gift from the forest for home
- Breathwork, meditation, and solo time
- Guided by Marisa Benjamim (artist & researcher) and Sarah Maske (certified Waldbaden course instructor)
- Small group of max. 12 people
This session is part of the series “Shinrin Yoku for all senses” — five experiences, five senses, five encounters between forest bathing, art and food. Each session can be booked individually.
