About this class
Discover the art of gray painting in an intensive 3-day workshop in Potsdam! You learn how to create impressive 3D effects with just white and minimal shades of color such as gray, brown or blue — inspired by ancient techniques used by the Old Masters. Under professional guidance, you will paint elements such as balustrades, masks or capitals on canvas or MDF board. Self-made acrylic glazes create illusions that can be perfectly integrated into wall paintings. A creative weekend with lots of exercises, an inspiring atmosphere and, optionally, can also be booked on a daily basis.
What you’ll do in the class
The course instructor introduces the topic, demonstrates each step and provides individual support. We paint on canvas and/or MDF board. There are lots of exercises and participant documents.
There will be a lunch break of one hour.
Your particular benefit/goal
- Even the Old Masters used gray painting to prepaint pictures or even create entire paintings with it. Nowadays, old walls and their architectural design usually play an important role in wall and illusion painting. Play with your creativity Experience how you can still create a seemingly colored stucco element yourself with just a little paint. In addition, glaze painting is relaxed.
Your artistic experimentation
- promotes your creative action and process-oriented thinking,
- opens up new perspectives on your further potential,
- allows you to experience the joy of visible design and feel deep satisfaction and great pride,... a holiday for the soul.
Who is the class suitable for?
No previous artistic knowledge is required — just unprejudiced curiosity about what you do.
