Class description
The gap between the brightest and darkest point in the image is known as the contrast or dynamic range. If this is larger than the one that the camera can record, we can expect the loss of image information. This can be seen in clouds, for example. If we only find a white area instead of mountains of clouds, we have lost image information here. This also applies in areas of the depths, when, for example, the structure of a tree bark in pure black is lost. Our camera technology reaches its limits when it comes to a large contrast range. This is where HDR photography technology comes into play. However, high dynamic range (HDR) photography is fueling discussion. She is either hated or loved. This workshop provides an introduction to HDR photography, from shooting to the finished image.
Webinar · Part 1
The first webinar part of the workshop is about theory and camera settings for HDR photography. What actually is HDR. Where and how do we use this technology or how do I adjust my camera to be able to photograph series of exposures. What HDR can and cannot do. Date: Friday (booking date) Time: see booking date Duration: approx. 2 hours
You create your own exposure series
After the introduction (webinar · part 1), you will be able to create your own exposure series. You will receive a checklist, which should remind you once again how to proceed. You have around two weeks in which you can take advantage of my help and advice while you create exposure series yourself.
Webinar · Part 2
We meet again together in the virtual training room and look at some exposure series from the past two weeks. We get to know the views of other participants and photographers. This gives us another perspective and further ideas for implementation. At the same time, in the final webinar, we learn something about image criticism, its meaning and how to deal with criticism.
- Date: Monday (approx. 2 weeks after webinar · part 1)
- Time: Start time as for webinars · Part 1
- Duration: approx. 2 hours
Back in the online training room, we see how to assemble and edit the individual images of the exposure series. Finally, we export the finished HDR image. The HDR image is created live on the photo trainer's computer, which you can see during the webinar. All steps of the HDR workflow are shown. You can then try out the HDR workflow yourself with your own photos as homework on your own PC. Send in your HDR photo for evaluation and completion of the workshop. You should have installed at least one of the following programs such as Adobe Lightroom, Photomatix or Aurora HDR in the latest version (a free trial version is completely sufficient for the webinar).
