About this class

We all know that: You go to a bar to hang out with friends, but for whatever reason you don't want to get drunk. When you order, there are only sugary drinks or water to choose from. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the waiters also gave one a funny look.

It's not cool at all. The fact is that fewer and fewer people are drinking alcohol and that they are more aware of what they are eating and are paying more attention to their health and wellbeing. That is fantastic and they definitely shouldn't be accused of it. In fact, more efforts should be made to offer alternatives to alcoholic beverages to non-drinkers. Finally, advances in cooking have produced wonderful vegan and vegetarian alternatives to traditional animal-based dishes, which make up a large part of Western cuisine.

I would even take this a step further and host a workshop in which we not only mix imitations of alcoholic beverages or a range of juices, but recipes that are designed to be alcohol-free from the ground up.

What you’ll do in the class

- A simple explanation of some basic concepts that will be important: how the balance between sweet and sour, how taste works and how we associate it with color and smell.
- An introduction to the tools we will be using: shakers, strainers, spoons, etc.
- During the course, we will prepare 3 cocktails, with the workshops being different each time, depending on the changing seasons and the color theme.
- After each cocktail, we take a break to absorb the information and especially to drink the cocktails and enjoy the evening.
- The duration of the course is approximately 2 hours.
