How does this activity work?

  • When you arrive at the drum school in Berlin, you will be warmly welcomed.
  • Each participant is provided with a drum.
  • We'll show you the basic percussion techniques: bass, tone, slap and batting techniques with sticks.
  • This usually creates initial groove experiences and develops a sense of what happens when different basic rhythms are played simultaneously in the group and how they intertwine rhythmically. In addition, initial improvisation experiences can be gained.
  • We're going to do some structural rhythm exercises.
  • In keeping with the rhythms that are practiced with the drum, entire solo phrases are practiced with the group.
  • By the end of the drum course, you should master the basics so that you can also learn to improvise with the drum if you are interested.

Who should definitely take part?

The drum workshop in Berlin is perfect for anyone interested in handmade rhythm. No previous knowledge is required. Our entry-level courses aren't about playing everything perfectly on the drum. With a little patience, practice and a positive connection to the music, the rhythms come naturally. The drum workshop is also suitable for couples or groups who want to experience something special together.
