About this class

Would you like to learn how to make pottery? > Then this course is just the right thing for you to get started with ceramic art.

In a relaxed atmosphere, you will learn the basics of making simple clay vessels with hands, beads or plates. Together, we design small bowls, cups or objects that are entirely in line with your ideas. You don't need any previous knowledge — just a desire to try something new.

What you’ll do in the class

During the course
After a brief introduction to the basics of manual construction — materials, tools and the most important techniques — it's straight to your own project.
Perhaps you would like to design a bowl, a mug, a vase or something completely individual. You decide what you want to implement and I will guide you step by step. (> Feel free to bring a first project idea if you want.)

Together, we'll see how you build, connect and design your piece so that form and function fit together. In doing so, you will learn how to implement your own ideas by hand and to design your personal work. If you still have enough time, feel free to try your hand at a second piece of ceramic.

After completing the course, we will work together to put the required equipment back into place - please allow a few minutes after the end of the course, if necessary.

After the course
After your works have completely dried (duration approx. 1 week), we will do the first firing (scrubbing fire). We will then glaze your course results for you (you can choose one from different glazes). Alternatively, you can opt to design your pottery yourself after firing on site. Regardless of your choice, we will do the second firing (glaze firing).

Picking up your pottery

You can pick up the finished pieces approximately 2-6 weeks after the course during Open Studio appointments or by appointment - we will inform you by email as soon as your pieces are ready for collection.
[Please understand that we can only store the pottery to a limited extent. If collection is not made within 6 months of production, the workpiece becomes the property of the studio and is reused or disposed of at its own discretion.]

Who is the class suitable for?

The basic course is ideal for anyone who wants to take time for themselves and create something with their own hands — whether as an introduction to pottery or as a creative break. Alone, with friends or as a creative gift — you're very welcome. No previous experience is required.
