What you’ll do in the class
Introduction to screen printing
The workshop starts with a short introduction to screen printing and the Diazzo Press Munich studio. You'll be introduced to the equipment used throughout the day and the basic theory behind the process. You can prepare and custom coat your own screen to use for your own print series later in the day.
Template creation
The various digital and analog processes necessary to transform your own image into a usable screen print film will be explained to you. Don't worry if you're not familiar with Photoshop or computers — we'll go through the techniques slowly and make sure everyone understands the theoretical basics.
Exposure
Here, the screen printing film is exposed to the coated screen to create the template, which is used for printing in the afternoon. You will be familiarized with how our imaging device works and how to develop the sieves.
After all preparations have been completed, it's time to print! You will learn how to set up your screen on a printing table as well as important printing techniques. You can then make your own small series of monochrome prints.
Who is the class suitable for?
The course is suitable for anyone with little or no experience in screen printing. It provides an overview of the technology and initial printing experience is gained. Suitable from 12 years of age.
