About this class

From pigment to work of art — A deep dive into the world of colors

In this special workshop, we focus on the originality of painting. In the inspiring atmosphere of a light-filled, authentic artist's studio (4th floor), we take a look behind the scenes of paint production together before the first brush stroke is applied.

The Alchemy of Colors (Introduction)
We start with a well-founded introduction to materials science. You'll learn:

  • What distinguishes a pigment from a dye.
  • How to mix a high-quality binder with the right media to create high-quality watercolor paint.
  • You combine the traditional craft of rubbing pigment and binder to create your own supple, bright watercolor.

Creativity without pressure
After you've created your own color palette, it's time to implement it. In a small group (6—13 people), I'll show you two special exercises with pen and brush to let go of the fear of making mistakes. These techniques are easy to integrate into everyday life, slow down and reduce stress, and are simply fun!

Your watercolor project
Under professional guidance, we use your fresh colors for our own project. We'll show you techniques such as wet-on-wet and layering to make full use of the special luminosity of your colors. Whether abstract or realistic — if desired, you will be personally accompanied in your subject.

This is what you can expect:

  • Atmosphere: Concentrated, relaxed work in a bright studio.
  • Setting: Cosy painting at the table for maximum relaxation.
  • Material: All pigments, binders, professional brushes and watercolor papers are included.
  • Flow: We are fully focused on the creative process. Coffee, tea and water are ready for you.

Group events & private parties Are you
looking for a special experience for your birthday, a team event or a JGA? This course is also ideal for children's birthday parties or creative afternoons with young people, as making your own colors is a fascinating, tactile experience for young explorers.

Individual group requests for 6 to 15 people are possible at any time. We'll find a suitable date for your exclusive break in our light-filled studio.

Painting in the midst of a real artist's studio
You don't work in an ordinary course room, but dive straight into the place where my daily inspiration takes shape. In the midst of current works and ongoing projects, you'll find the perfect atmosphere to discover your own creative flow. The light-filled studio on the 4th floor not only offers you the space, but also the peace and artistic spirit to explore the secrets of pigments. Be inspired by the environment and enjoy the feeling of creating where real art is at home.

Book a place now or request a group — we look forward to letting the colors flow with you!

What you’ll do in the class

Your creative process: Nothing is wrong, everything is unique

The course schedule:
After being greeted in front of the entrance, we take the lift together to the studio floor and the light-filled artist's studio on the 4th floor. Please arrive punctually, as access is only possible with a transponder.

1. Create colors:
We start with the magic of pigments. You choose your favorite shades and learn how to use binders to create your very own watercolor paint. This artisanal process perfectly grounds and prepares you for painting.

2. Get into the flow:
With a short hand-eye coordination exercise, we leave everyday life behind us. It's not about perfection, it's about loosening up and letting the pen flow.

3. Design your work:
With your freshly made colors, we dedicate ourselves to your project. You decide whether you want to be inspired by our studio and the flowers or bring your own design. We'll show you techniques such as layer construction or wet-on-wet technology. If desired, you can include pencil or charcoal.

Our philosophy: Creativity without pressure
There is no “right” or “wrong” in the studio. It is important that you leave the pressure to perform outside. Nothing is wrong and every piece of art is unique. We celebrate the diversity of styles and the beauty of individual expression. In the end, you not only take home a picture, but the experience of having created something truly unique and being able to release the techniques of anxiety that you can incorporate into everyday life at any time!

Who is the class suitable for?

  • Beginners without previous knowledge: The introduction to paint production and the loosening exercises alleviate the fear of white sheets. You don't need any previous experience.
  • Advanced & amateur artists: Anyone who already paints gets to know a new depth of craft here — understanding and producing your own material enriches every painting style.
  • Children & young people: The haptic part (mixing colors) makes the course a fascinating experience even for young explorers.
  • People who want to slow down: Anyone who needs a break from everyday life and wants to be creative in an inspiring, light-filled atmosphere without pressure to perform.
  • Groups & teams: Perfect for JGAs, birthdays or team events that are looking for a shared, unique experience in a real studio.

In short: For anyone who enjoys colors and is looking for something special in craftsmanship.
