WERKHALLE Köln | Space for art, workshops & team events
Get to know WERKHALLE
I am Stephanie Frost, founder of the factory in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. As a trained stage sculptor, art teacher and former artistic assistant in Tony Cragg's studio, I learned my craft from scratch. My passion for design was born in large workshops: working specifically and trying out different materials and experiencing how something tangible emerges from an idea.
My mission is to open up exactly this experience of creative work to all people. The workshop is not about theoretical art concepts or perfectionism, but about making and experimenting. For me, people work with their hands: we shape, build, experiment and discard. I offer an inclusive, uncomplicated space in which everyone — with or without previous knowledge — can get straight into action and try out different materials without pressure to perform.

Our location is quietly and sheltered in a charming, green Ehrenfeld backyard on Venloer Straße. It is a bright, inviting industrial building that combines the authentic character of a workshop with a cozy, creative atmosphere.
- The rooms: The workshop is divided into two spacious, light-flooded studio rooms, which offer plenty of space for free development. The green courtyard also invites you to take a deep breath during breaks.
- Accessibility: It is important to us that everyone can be there. The access, paths and workplaces are completely at ground level and barrier-free (a barrier-free toilet is part of the application process)
- Rental & seminars: Our studios can be rented flexibly for external projects, courses, offsite meetings or seminars. The rooms offer an inspiring change from the classic conference room.
- Free experimentation: The location is precisely designed so that any material — whether clay, plaster or paint — can be experimented with completely freely and without restrictions. Stains and creative chaos are definitely part of this.
- Capacity: Depending on the setting and format, the two studios offer flexible space for groups of 10 to 50 people. This means that there is enough space for focused seminars in small groups as well as for larger events.

Our courses are characterized by the deliberate absence of pressure to perform. With us, there is no right or wrong and no predetermined goal that has to look perfect in the end.
- The process in focus: It's all about the joy of doing and discovering your own creativity. We encourage you to try out materials completely freely, see mistakes as an opportunity and simply turn your mind off.
- Unlimited experimentation: We can experiment with any material. Whether clay, plaster or paint — there are no rigid requirements. The focus is on trying things out in a playful way and discovering new paths.
- Inclusive and open: The courses are designed in such a way that anyone can participate — completely regardless of previous knowledge, talent or physical requirements.
- Diverse, professional support: In addition to my own craft and educational experience, various female lecturers bring their own perspectives, techniques and ideas to the workshop. This gives you broad creative support and the safe space to express yourself intuitively.

Yes, we offer exclusive team events for companies as well as private events such as birthdays or creative community meetings. Our events for groups are unique for the following reasons:
- Creativity meets an agile mindset: A deep understanding of agile work flows into my work. The free design in the studios makes agile core principles such as driving forward through trial and error, rapid rethinking and refraining from rigid plans directly tangible and tangible.
- Real togetherness through haptic experience: Working together with your hands creates a very special dynamic. Teams communicate on a new, carefree level away from traditional office life. This strengthens cohesion and breaks up entrenched structures in a playful way.
- Individual and exclusive: You get the two studios all to yourself. We tailor the creative program — whether free experimentation with different materials or a major joint project — exactly to your wishes and group size.
- Inspiring feel-good atmosphere: The combination of the charming, green backyard, the bright rooms and the focus on doing free will make your event an unforgettable experience that connects and has a long-lasting effect.
