About this experience
Would you like to understand where paint actually comes from and how it has been produced for thousands of years? In this creative workshop in Cologne, you will dive into the world of earth pigments and learn how color is created from natural materials.
You will experience color not only as an artistic tool, but as a living substance with its own structure and expressiveness. You will be accompanied by artist and guest lecturer Emilia Anemone Houzer.

You are welcome to bring work clothes, we will provide aprons on site.

How does this experience take place?
Together, we explore different earths, their properties and colors. You work directly with the material: grind, mix and develop a sense of consistency, density and effect. This is not just about knowledge, but about immediate experience of material. Color is not only used here, but is also understood as something living — as a substance that changes, reacts and has its own presence.
The workshop creates a basis for the following course day, but can also be attended independently.
You will be accompanied by Emilia Anemone Houzer, artist and guest lecturer at the Alanus University of Embodiment and Intuitive Work with Earth.
You will develop a deep understanding of natural pigments and experience color beyond industrial materials.
Who is it suitable for
For everyone over 16 years of age. The course is suitable for beginners as well as advanced learners.
