Macramé Christmas tree – what you need:

• 2.1 m of 3 mm braided macramé cord in natural color
• Masking tape to secure the cord
• We'll use the square knot

Macramé Christmas tree preparation

• Cut one cord to 70 cm and one cord to 140 cm in length.
• Place the short cord in the middle of your work surface and secure it at the top and bottom.

Macramé Christmas tree Step 1:

Now place the long cord centered under the short cord, about 2 cm from the end of the cord, and tie a square knot.

Macramé Christmas tree Step 2:

Tie the second square knot with a 1 cm gap, and the third square knot with a 2 cm gap. Push both knots upward to form the side loops as shown in the image (picots).

Repeat the step with three more square knots. The gaps should now be 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm. Push these three knots upward as well to form the side loops of the macramé Christmas tree.

Macramé Christmas tree Step 4:

Tie two more square knots directly one below the other for the tree trunk. You can now trim the remaining cord to 4 cm. Your macramé Christmas tree is done!

Tip: You can also cut the threads directly at the macramé Christmas tree. Another option is to knot the trunk using a wrapping knot.
