About this class
Your first steps as a papermaker: Learn to make paper yourself — in a real paper factory. You create paper in a traditional way or in a modern and playful way. In three hours, you'll try out the most important techniques directly.
Familiarise yourself with raw materials, working materials and the interplay of fibers and water on the paper ladle. This is how you discover a whole new side of paper — in a relaxed atmosphere and in small groups.
In three hours, you will get an insight into traditional and contemporary paper making techniques. The well-equipped workshop offers you everything you need for individual handmade papers. You can take your self-made papers home or receive them by post after drying.
With us, you produce papers primarily from cotton fibers. Old textiles, waste paper and natural materials are also used.
Our lecturer and course instructor Matthias Schwethelm is a book scholar, passionate papermaker and operator of the paper factory “Papieroffizin”. He is happy to share his knowledge with you.
