Class description

The Kora workshop is led by Djelifily Sako - a long-time and experienced musician from Mali.

The workshop is aimed at all levels - beginners and advanced users can participate and are professionally supported and challenged by Djelifily.

How does this activity work?

At the beginning, holding and playing techniques are explained and trained in simple melody exercises. Then, with the first exercises, it quickly turns into simple basic melodies. The faster someone learns, the sooner the person can then play other, more complex basic melodies and small solo interludes, resulting in a complete polyrhythmic piece of music from Mali, to which everyone contributes to the Kora at various levels of difficulty.

Who should definitely take part?

For anyone interested in the African harp.
