Class description
This workshop is aimed at anyone who has some experience with the camera and would like to develop their own skills. It is best if you have already attended the Basics 1 course before.
The course schedule:
- We start the day with a short refresher on ISO/aperture/time and blur.
- We then experiment with exciting highkey and lowkey lighting settings to bring out interesting motifs in an appealing way.
- Using the histogram, we can check the uniform distribution of brightness.
- In our large outdoor section, we transfer what we have learned from the morning to typical vacation and travel situations.
- We explain why it is so useful to have a white bath towel with you and work with small folding reflectors.
- At the end of the day, we evaluate our photos as part of the photo review.
The course content:
In this photo course, we work with the most important tool in photography: We design with light.
- Take pictures in full manual mode
- Know and apply the correct light value
- Targeted control of image brightness
- Highkey situations
- Lowkey situations
- exposure metering
- Manually adjust time and aperture
- Understanding and using histograms
Who is the course for?
You should be familiar with using the camera and be able to consciously create blur. Ideally, you have attended our Basics I course beforehand, or have mastered the content taught there.
Details to remember
What to bring?
- A system or SLR camera with the option to manually adjust ISO, aperture, and time.
- Camera manual if available.
- Fully charged battery Ideally a charged spare battery.
- Memory card with space for approx. 300 pictures
- We're going out to eat during lunch break, so please bring some money with you.
- Please bring weather-appropriate clothing for outdoor exercises.
If available, you are welcome to bring the following:
- A second lens; we work in the focal length range of 18-105 mm, a fixed focal length in the range of 50-85 mm is also possible
- A reflector (gold/silver/black/white/zebra)
- A diffuser
- If you have a clip-on flash, feel free to bring it with you.
