About this class
What you’ll do in the class
We roast two types of East African coffee: first a Kenyan type, then an Ethiopian type. In this way, you can see the differences directly in comparison.
We then grind the beans and try them together at the large wooden table.
During roasting, you measure the temperature with a handheld meter and learn more about coffee, coffee roasting, cultivation, trade and bean quality. I also share personal impressions from Kenya.
- You get green coffee beans, spoon and pot
- You take your place at the big table
- Cooker, casserole and wooden spoon are ready
- You roast both types of coffee at your place
- You control the roasting process with a wooden spoon
- The coffee cracks and develops its aroma
- The beans cool down briefly in a bowl
- Then we roast the second type
- Finally, we grind both roasts
- Of course, you'll try the freshly roasted coffee
