Class description

In the overseas city, tradition meets modernity. Go on an exciting journey through Bremen's port history and be amazed at a completely new neighborhood in which people live, work and enjoy life today. Where high-rise office buildings, apartments and restaurants are located today, port life used to be vibrant. Back then, no one would probably have expected that one of the largest urban planning projects in Europe would develop here.

During the tour, you will hear exciting stories about what happened at the port in the past and will receive interesting information about today's urban district. What did bicycles have to do with loose coffee beans, for example? What caused a stir in Bremen's overseas port in May 1966? And what is probably the smallest holiday park in Europe all about? You will learn all this and much more during the tour.

Important note:

For this tour, it is absolutely essential that all people are good on foot, as we run longer distances and there is no seating in between. However, the route is barrier-free.

Meeting point: In front of the restaurant Feuerwache
End point: In front of Hotel John & Will (Überseeinsel)

How does this activity work?

We meet in front of the Feuerwache restaurant (on the side where the harbor basin is located) and walk from there to Hotel John & Will on overseas island.
