About this class
In this workshop, you will work with sandstone, alabaster or soapstone as well as wood. You create your own work using classic tools and develop a sense of material and form step by step.
- Technical introduction to tools and materials
- Handling a hammer, chisel, rasp and file
- Processing surfaces by filing, grinding and polishing
- Small exercises for formal understanding and free work
- Individual support during your work process
Working in soapstone is also possible. The soft rock is ideal for getting started and offers many creative options, for example for handcuffs, pendants or free forms.
In wood carving, you work with a saw, stabbing iron and hammer. For detailed work, you use carving knives, sandpaper and linseed oil. You can work concretely or abstractly.

What you’ll do in the class
You'll learn the techniques and tools first. You will then discover the three-dimensionality of stone and wood and develop your own form. A sketch in sound can help you with that. During the entire workshop, I will support you individually with my many years of experience.
