Briefly about me
I am a sculptor, live in Cologne, completed my master's degree in 2020 and since then I have worked independently in the art and cultural sector in various fields.
A large part of my own artistic work is dedicated to stone sculpture. As a result of model making, I am also very familiar with the material clay — both in model making and in molding for concrete casting. Casting techniques are therefore also an important part of my artistic practice.
Working with hands, creating with your own efforts and experiencing self-effectiveness are often at the center of my courses. It is important to me that participants enjoy the material and have the courage to try out new things. Of course, I end up with my own work — but just as important to me is the creative process, experimenting with often new materials and finding individual paths to my own idea.
I offer my courses at two different locations, each opening up their own creative opportunities.
... in the workshop! (near Bonn)
One course location is my workshop, which offers plenty of space for sculptural and expansive work. Here, participants can get to know stone carving in particular and try it out in practice. The old carpentry workshop is still used as such at the back, while a sculpture workshop has been built in the front area since 2022. The room offers an authentic workshop atmosphere and is ideal for team events, JGA's or groups that want to work creatively together. (Arriving by car is an advantage.)
Stone Lab! My stone carving course is about getting to know the technical basics of stone processing. At the beginning, there is a technical introduction to tools and techniques: How do I work with a hammer and chisel? What options do files, sharpening stones and paper offer? The knowledge is put to the test directly on the stone.
As we move on, we dive further into the world of stone carving. With small exercises and a joint look at the resulting work, I will accompany you individually in your process — towards free, self-determined work in stone.
Time period: 2 days of 6 hours (there is always a joint lunch break)
What do I need to bring:
Things that can get dirty/dusty
We work indoors but bring a warm sweater
small lunch, etc.
Cash for the stone prize
The price of the stone is not included in the price, as the prices vary depending on the rock and size, so the price must be paid in cash on site. Between 25 — 35€
I will provide small snacks of water, tea and coffee. Other food must be brought along. You can of course take your final product with you at the end of the course. The course is designed to create one object per participant.
... in studio 127! (Cologne folding rule)
My second location is Atelier 127 and is located in the heart of Cologne-Zollstock. Our joint studio is used both for exhibitions and for various courses.
Here I work with you primarily with sound and in smaller formats. The bright, reduced space creates a quiet atmosphere and plenty of space for creative work. Thanks to the good connection, the studio is easily accessible and is particularly suitable for children's birthday parties, smaller team events and courses.
In my Shape n' Shine course, we work with various materials. We start with clay and model simple, max. fist-sized shapes. These are molded with a second material, alginate, to prepare a negative mold for casting. Alginate replaces silicone here, alginate consists of purely natural ingredients (algae) and is therefore very compatible and not toxic. The last step is to cast our small mold with acrylic resin. Acrylic resin is a fast-curing plastic that can be easily colored with pigments. The shapes are sturdy, water-repellent and are suitable as small wall objects, pendants or small cuddles.
All materials are included in the course fee. You can of course take your final product with you at the end of the course. The course is designed to create one object per participant.
Time period: 4 hours
I will provide small snacks and water, tea and coffee. All other food must be brought along.
