About this class

From clay to finished ceramics - Our pottery workshop “Spin, Trim & Glaze” in Munich takes you through the complete process of a cup, vase, bowl, etc. In four sessions, we will build, refine and finish your own works of art in a relaxed, creative environment.

What you’ll do in the class

Session 1 | Center and Cylinder

We'll start with the basics of pottery: centering and drawing walls. Together, we form cylinders — the basis of almost every ceramic mold. Due to the small group size, we can individually address your level and guide you step by step.

Session 2 | Shaping & Trimming

Now that we've warmed up with centering and cylinders, let's try our hand at shapes that are all derived from the cylinder. In the second half, you will learn how to trim the cylinders, also known as turning them off, after they have reached a leathery state. This session is about understanding shapes and finding your own rhythm on the potter's wheel.

Session 3 | Trim and Refine

In the third round, you can work out subtleties and add details to add decorative elements to your raw forms. You also have time to shoot additional tracks for the last session.

All objects are completely dried and spray-fired at 950°C to prepare them for glazing.

Session 4 | Final Trimming and Glazing

In the first half of our last session, we bring the remaining pieces to a close and work out the final details and personal accents that make each piece unique. In the second half, we will focus on glazing. You have time to glaze the already fired pieces from previous sessions and give them their final look.

Your works are then fired up at over 1235°C, making it waterproof and dishwasher-safe.
