Class description
Forging is not an art, but one of humanity's oldest, most venerable crafts. There are only a few professions that have such a long history of development. Be part of this story at my blacksmithing course in Jatznick and forge your own knife!
What is the process?
There are various course priorities to choose from. All courses last 2-3 days and require an individual appointment.
Damascus steel forging course
- Together with the participant, a selection of the steels is made and the damask package is prepared
- This package is heated to welding heat in a coke fire and welded by hand, air or spring hammer
- After folding again, the process must be repeated until the desired number of layers is reached
- After subsequent annealing and processing, the package can be used to make knives, letter openers, bangles and other jewelry
- It is then etched and neutralized
Basic knife-making course:
- Here, all knife enthusiasts can make their own knife of their choice
- The knives are forged from spring, ball and file steel
- Laminated blades — 3-layer — can be forged in the Scandinavian way, as well as monosteel blades
Who is the course suitable for?
This course teaches beginners how the spring hammer works and how it works. Advanced participants can forge a knife made from Damascus steel from my factory.
