Class description

Experience an exceptional team building event near Hamburg! When herding sheep, you grow together as a team and learn how communication, strategy and resilience can help you perform at your best. Together, you will lead a flock of up to 1000 sheep through forests and meadows — a task that is not only fun, but also strengthens your team spirit in the long term. Accompanied by experienced shepherds and coaches, this day will be an adventure full of exciting challenges, valuable insights and unforgettable moments.

The team building takes place in a beautiful location with meadows and forests near Hamburg. The starting point is usually around 30 to 60 minutes by car from the big city. The exact starting point depends on the exact date and expected weather. When you sign up for team building, only the approximate meeting point is therefore clear, plus minus 5 km. A few days before the team building, you will find out the exact meeting point.

How does this activity work?

The flock of sheep migrate where they would hike without a team. The team comes to the sheep. The journey is organized by you, the best way is by bus or in private cars.

The team meets with the team building guide at the agreed time. After a few words of welcome and a short introduction (everyone knows in theory how it works because people - soccer fans, kindergarten children... - are led in the same way), the team jumps into deep water and tries the first simple herding exercise.

This is followed by a team round in which you discuss yourself, learn from your mistakes and rearrange yourself. After three or four herding exercises and team meetings, most teams get the hang of it and it's now time to go from A to B in a team and with the flock of sheep through the open landscape.

The whole process takes three to five hours depending on the team's fitness level. Finally, we can have a nice barbecue and party in the next beer garden.

The organizer organizes the transfer back to your bus or cars.

Who should definitely take part?

  • For teams that want to improve their communication and collaboration
  • Ideal for companies, departments and project teams
  • Perfect for private groups looking for a unique experience

In principle, you should be able to complete a four-hour normal hike on trails and cross-country. Sheep herding is not about speed and athletic performance, but more about attention, empathy, strategy and tactics. Therefore, people with physical disabilities can also participate. However, there is also a need for people who can take a break when the lead sheep have just left. So it's the mix that counts. Diversity!
