The “Tokyo Jacket” sewing course in Munich allows you to create a relaxed and self-confident jacket in a trendy oversize look. Based on the style of a men's jacket, the jacket is partially lined and has a stylish shawl collar and patch front pockets. It is closed with an individually designed tie belt made of fabric or leather strap.

What you’ll do in the class

The workshop lasts 3 days and includes the following steps:

1st day:

  • Introduction to the workshop and selection of the pattern.
  • Discussion of fabric recommendations, in particular soft linen, tweed or opulent corduroy velvet.
  • Cut the fabric according to the selected size and amount of fabric.
  • Start sewing the jacket, including the scarf collar and front pockets.

2nd day:

  • Continuation of the sewing process with a focus on details such as the tie belt.
  • Integration of ironing insert for the desired shape.
  • Possibly installation of leather strap for additional customization.
  • Continuation of sewing work with support and guidance.

3rd day:

  • Finishing work and fine-tuning the jacket.
  • Discussion of options for varying and adapting the pattern.
  • Tips and tricks for a professional look.
  • Admire the finished jackets together and share experiences.

  • Recommended fabric: soft, medium-weight linen, tweed or opulent corduroy velvet.
  • Amount of fabric depending on size: 1.40 m x 2.50 m or 1.40 m x 2.730 m (for large) or 1.20 m x 2.50 m or 1.20 m x 2.75 m (for large).
  • Lining: 1.00 m for all sizes.
  • Ingredients: ironing board (1.00 m), cut paper, matching thread, possibly leather strap (2 m), fabric scissors, pins.
