Class description
This course is perfect for getting a deeper insight into pottery and learning the entire process of creating a piece of ceramic, including glazing. In four consecutive appointments, you will learn the various techniques and create your own unique works.
The course is suitable for absolute beginners as well as for those who have already gained initial experience in a trial course and would like to deepen it.
How does this activity work?
In a small group of a maximum of four people, I will guide you step by step through the pottery process. The four dates are thematically coordinated:
Session 1 - Turning the potter's wheel: You will learn how to properly prepare the clay, center and shape your first bowls and cups.
Date 2 - Turn off the works: Together, we refine the shape of your twisted pieces and make the floors clean and smooth.
Session 3 - Working with hand building techniques: Here you can continue to express your creativity and learn how to build ceramics without a potter's wheel — whether through plate technology, beading technology or sculpture making. It is also possible to refine the previous pieces and to provide them with handles, for example.
Session 4 - Glazing: You can individually design your works and learn how to underline the character of your pieces using various glazing techniques.
After the last appointment, I will take care of the glaze firing and make sure that you can pick up your finished works after about 2-3 weeks. The pieces can also be shipped for an additional charge.
Who should definitely take part?
The 4-week course is suitable for beginners and advanced learners alike. Regardless of whether you are completely new to the pottery wheel or have already attended the taster course — here you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and dive deeper into the art of pottery. This course is also ideal for anyone who wants to try out different techniques.
Details to remember
What to bring?
It is best to bring comfortable clothes that can sometimes get dirty. Long hair requires a braid and making pottery is easier with short nails. I will provide you with everything else.
What is included?
All necessary materials, such as clay, tools and the use of the potter's wheel, are included in the course. I also do the grinding and processing of the clay. After the glazing deadline, five of your works will be finished firing. Glazes and everything you need to creatively design your pieces are also available. If you want to complete even more works, they can be burned for an additional charge.
