Class description
Regardless of whether it's a flower, an insect or a drop of water: through macro photography, we can make the smallest details visible that are no longer even noticeable to the naked eye. These beautiful and sometimes strange pictorial worlds will be our playground at this photo workshop.
The topics in the macro photo course:
- Introduction to outdoor macro photography
- Depth of field and closest focus limit
- Brief hardware overview: macro lenses, extension rings, close-up lenses
- Auto focus vs. manual focus
- Use of reflectors and artificial light
- small aids and tools in macro photography
- Image structure and perspective
- white balance, perfect colors
- Focus stacking
What must be brought along?
- SLR or system/compact camera, manually adjustable
- Macro lens or extension rings, if available OR
- Standard lens (zoom or fixed focal length) or lightweight telephoto lens
Macro hardware for the most common camera manufacturers (standard bayonet connectors for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus) will be available on loan during the workshop.
How does this activity work?
After a short theoretical part on the introduction and the technical and photographic features of macro photography, we will look at the advantages and disadvantages of different macro hardware.
If you do not (yet) have your own macro lens or extension rings, you are welcome to test the appropriate equipment on loan during the photo course.
Then it's straight to the main part of the photo course and we use the camera to search for interesting plants, insects and other details to try out and deepen what we've learned. Many useful tips, suggestions and tricks will help you find motifs, use light as a design tool and refine your technique.
We work primarily with natural ambient light, reflectors and portable light. In addition, small tools and tools are presented that should not be missing in any macro photographer's bag. You will also learn how to simulate the various recording techniques with inexpensive accessories at home in the garden or on the balcony.
Who should definitely take part?
The course is aimed at both beginners and advanced photographers who want to further develop their skills in macro photography or learn one or the other trick.
The individual support of each individual participant is very important to me and you will be picked up exactly where you are right now. You will immediately receive on-site feedback and suggestions for your pictures.
I'll help you master the technology, find interesting excerpts and work out new image ideas.
