Felting workshop in Cologne

Using soap, warm water and special needles, we felt small or large, colorful or natural-colored, monochrome plates from so-called fairytale wool, i.e. raw sheep wool. Landscapes, cloud images, flower dreams or marbling can be created there. In the second step, these felt sheets can be used as pillows, as a wall painting or further processed, e.g. as a book cover, headband or herb bag.
Felted wool has the character of being very warm and the effect of the individual, fine threads can create a kind of watercolor character very nicely through layering.

Panels are first created using natural or bright colors using wet felting. Small elements such as flowers can be added with needle felting. A second step is to develop from two-dimensional work into three-dimensional work. It is possible to create a felt basket... from one piece: The felt plate becomes a form.
Or putting elements together using a needle and thread is another way to create flowers from colorful plates, for example, which are thus shaped like plastic. Pearls and similar accessories provide a nice aesthetic contrast to the dullness of the felted surface.

(At this point, we would also like to draw attention to the bookbinding course; a felted book cover would be a useful and nice addition to the book.)
