Class description
Advanced drawing workshop in Chinese Ink.
It’s high time to dive into darkness with good music, an open bar, and squeeze the ink squid dry. This workshop is sprung from the fascination with this medium and is devoted to the range of Indian ink drawing techniques. You will work with solid blacks, reed and dry brushes to experiment with the range of textures and values possible with Chinese ink.
Indian ink AKA Chinese ink was used for ages and is highly valued. Its deep glossy blackness coming from charcoal soot differs it from other calligraphy inks and gives it a beautiful depth and covering quality. And this is what will explore throughout the course. Over the course of the day, you will work with a life model and a wide variety of art albums as the main prompt.
How does this activity work?
To create a wide range of atmospheres and effects from crisp, bold solid blacks to poetic painterly effects to sharpen a reed like a proto build composition through contrast and alignment to draw in ink with a dry brush and precisely control the value.
This is an intense and challenging 1-day drawing workshop. You will work with solid blacks, reed, and dry brushes to experiment with the range of textures and values possible with Chinese ink.
The class takes places in a picturesque studio in the heart of Neukölln just next to Rathaus Neukölln U-bahn station.
Who should definitely take part?
Advanced drawers, anyone nitrated in experimenting with ink, especially web designers and illustrators wanting to venture beyond digital tools.
