What you’ll do in the class
The workshop runs in four parts:
- Design brainstorming: Everyone shows what they brought, and you choose the best idea together.
- Prepare the project: Learn how to measure, mark, cut and pin your project.
- Learn the machine: Use your own sewing machine and learn how to thread it and sew with it.
- Sew your project: Finish your garment and take home practical skills for future projects.
The studio and teacher:
Josefina Studio is run by a Uruguayan fashion designer who creates workshops and experiences around fashion and upcycling. The studio shows the potential of pre-owned materials and encourages you to express your creativity and style. The workshop is taught by Lucy, costume designer Lulaloop, who has decades of experience in upcycling.

Bring clothes to crop, tailor or combine. Avoid lined garments and very thick fabrics.
