Get to know STUDIO KAOLIN
Studio Kaolin (kaolin = the white clay) is a cozy ceramic studio with a focus on turning the potter's wheel with up to 8 seats. There have been pottery courses here since 2018. It is a lovely place where you can find peace and exchange and completely immerse yourself in the magic of spinning the window. You can use the open workshop hours (5 days a week) flexibly according to your needs after taking part in one of the courses. There are many ways to develop your pottery wheel skills: Rent a windshield for home, book a private lesson, or use the fast and professional burning service (2 new Rhode ovens).
There is currently still capacity for permanent memberships. Be a part of our small community.
The rooms have a nostalgic charm, in winter we also heat with a wood stove, and in summer, in addition to fine ceramics, you can also buy regional cut flowers from our own garden (member of the Slow Flower Movement). From the workshop room you have a view of the garden, sometimes you feel a bit like you're in the countryside, just 5 minutes from Antonplatz & 15 minutes from Alex.
Most courses are led by owner Maike, supported by Miriam and Gerard, especially on weekends. We share the enthusiasm for working on the potter's wheel and the diverse possibilities of the material and look forward to sharing our knowledge with you. Maike studied fine art (as did Gerard), is actually a photographer and has found craftsmanship in ceramics, which she was missing more and more professionally.
We love to test the possibilities and limits of the material and set very high standards for our own work. But we also enjoy sharing our skills and seeing again and again what effect and fascination something as simple as spinning sound on a disc can have on many people.
A personal atmosphere and respectful, respectful interaction are important to us.
