I’m Ama Luma, founder and designer of AMALUMA Studio, a Berlin-based slow fashion and creative studio built around upcycling, creativity and community. I’m a self-taught sewist and multidisciplinary creative. My passion for making started through experimenting with clothes and learning to sew by myself . What began as a personal way of transforming existing pieces gradually grew into AMALUMA Studio, which I founded in 2020.

Today, AMALUMA combines sustainable fashion design with hands-on creative workshops and community experiences. I create clothing and accessories from existing and reclaimed materials, while also helping others discover the joy of making things themselves.

My mission is to make sustainability feel creative, accessible and empowering. I believe that creating something with your own hands can change the way you see the things you already own and even the way you think about consumption.

As a experience curator through my workshops, I want people to slow down, experiment, learn practical skills and express their own creativity in a relaxed and welcoming environment. You don’t need to be experienced or particularly “creative” to join. My approach is all about learning by doing, having fun and leaving with something that feels truly yours.

AMALUMA workshops take place in a creative coworking space in Berlin (Mitte or at your location too), where I have a dedicated big room for workshops and creative sessions.

The space has a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere and is equipped with large working tables, chairs, power outlets and the tools and materials needed for the different workshop formats. For sewing and upcycling workshops, I also provide sewing machines and the necessary equipment, so participants can simply arrive and get creative.

The workshop setup can accommodate groups of up to 10 people, creating an intimate atmosphere where I can give everyone individual guidance and support. Being based in a creative coworking environment also means that participants get to experience a real working creative space rather than a conventional event venue.

AMALUMA workshops combine creativity, sustainability and a genuinely hands-on experience. Rather than simply following a set of instructions, participants are encouraged to make creative choices and add their own personality to what they create. Every finished piece can therefore be different — whether it’s a ring made from a vintage spoon, an upcycled garment or a handmade accessory.

The workshops are beginner-friendly and I guide participants step by step, while leaving plenty of room to experiment. No previous sewing or crafting experience is required.

Sustainability is also part of the experience. I love showing people what can be created from materials that already exist, and helping them discover that something old, imperfect or overlooked can become something beautiful and meaningful.

Most importantly, my workshops are designed to feel relaxed and social. Come alone, with a friend, partner or family member, you’ll learn something new, make something with your hands and hopefully leave feeling inspired to keep creating.

I offer private workshops for companies, teams, birthdays, friends, families and other private groups.

The format can be adapted to the occasion, group size and interests. Options include spoon ring making, sewing and upcycling workshops, creative accessories and other hands-on projects. Workshops can also be offered in English or French. What makes AMALUMA private events special is that everyone actively takes part. Instead of simply attending an activity, participants learn a skill and create something themselves — which naturally creates opportunities to talk, collaborate and connect.

I keep the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, with guidance throughout the workshop but enough freedom for everyone to make the experience their own. No previous experience is required, so people with very different creative backgrounds can participate together.

For team events, it’s a chance to step away from the usual work environment, do something creative with your hands and connect with colleagues in a different way. And at the end, everyone leaves with something they personally made : a tangible memory of the experience.
