From the well-known Hackesche Höfe to the hidden treasures of the former Spandau suburb around Hackescher Markt — experience exciting stories and interesting facts about Berlin's architecture and Jewish life. The tour starts at Hackescher Markt and is perfect for anyone who wants to discover Berlin away from the classic sights.

The suburbs of Spandau

The suburb of Spandau, once just outside Berlin, is one of the oldest districts in the city. Located between Hackeschem Markt, Spree and Oranienburger Straße in Berlin-Mitte, buildings from the 19th century and individual prefabricated buildings characterize the former “poor quarter.” As an ensemble of buildings, the suburb of Spandau is now a listed building.
