Steps of the tour
- Meeting point & preparation
Your adventure begins at the Alte Donau U-Bahn station. From there, you walk about 15 minutes to the kayak launch site. On arrival, you receive safety equipment, including life vests and waterproof bags. A short briefing covers kayaking basics, safety, and paddling techniques.
- Kayaking on the Old Danube
You start paddling through the calm waters of the Alte Donau. The route combines Vienna’s modern skyline with charming lakeside cottages. Along the way, your guide shares stories about Vienna’s history, culture, and architecture. You also pass landmarks such as the United Nations Headquarters (UNO City).
- Optional break
Depending on the weather and your preference, you can stop at a lakeside café. Between May and September, the tour can also include a short swim stop.
- Paddle back & end of tour
After the break, you continue through quieter sections of the Old Danube before returning to the starting point. At the end, you receive complimentary photos from the tour. If you like, your guide also shares tips for nearby spots such as Copa Beach, the Danube Tower, or the Danube Island.
